Jean paused outside the double doors leading into the professor's office and one hand went to the wood as her eyes closed. How many times had she stepped into this office to speak to her mentor and the man she saw as a second father? And now he wasn't there, she was alone with a manor full of students who needed guidance that she couldn't give to all of them. The redhead let out a small sigh and her hand fell to the knob turning it smoothly and pushing the door open. It moved easily as the hinges were well oiled and the familiar sights and smells of the room washed over her.
Taking a breath Jean stepped into the room and closed the door behind her letting herself take in the Professor's things, the office was always so neat and tidy, the man hating clutter and disorganization as much as she did. The curtains were open allowing light to pour in giving the room a cheerful glow. The only thing missing in it now was the wheelchair bound man that helped so many in his cause for peace. Jean's gaze landed on the desk and she slowly made her way towards it pausing next to it.
Her fingers ran gently over the polished wood and using her telekinesis she brought the office chair that Storm sometimes used over to set it in front of the desk. It felt strange to be taking a seat behind the desk that was not her's, but it had to be done, she was temporarily headmistress of Xavier's Institute for Gifted Youngsters, and she knew that Xavier wouldn't mind. He would if anything be pleased that she had taken responsibility for what had to be done and kept things running as smoothly as possible.
